Candlestick hang
From Silkworms
candlestick hang
this is my own mental name for this move, but i think there's a completely different position on silks sometimes called candlestick, so it could use a better name. i think it's very similar to a basic inverted hang in pole dancing or chinese pole.
in any case: hanging from the single fabric, invert and crochet (wrap) the same-side leg around the pole once en dedans. then set the other foot on top of the wrapped leg's foot, as if you were doing an upside-down basic stand; press both legs together tightly to trap the fabric not just between the feet but also between the thighs. you need all the friction you can get here. then, let go with your hands.
it's possible to hang this way with no hands; and it's one of the few ways to, for example, tie wrist-locks in midair. takes skill and probably as much bare flesh as possible, though.
links: the seattle circus wiki uses the name candlestick for a completely different move.
